Insulated gloves and PPE
Your main protection is a pair of rubber insulating gloves with leather protectors over them. Check them for holes every single time before you use them.
To check, roll the cuff to trap air inside, then squeeze and listen and feel for leaks.
Wear your PPE and work under supervision until you have practiced each step.
