This Privacy Policy explains how Battery Repair Experts, Inc. ("we", "us"), Orlando, Florida, collects, uses and shares personal information when you use Battery Academy, BatteryTech and related services (the "Services").
1. Information we collect
You give us:
- Account details: name, email, password (stored hashed by our authentication provider), account type, shop name, language, and phone number if you add one.
- Learning data: lessons viewed, level chosen, checkpoint and quiz answers, notes, lab results, exam attempts and certificates.
- AI tutor questions and answers.
- Forms: workshop seat requests and Launch Package applications (name, email, phone, city and state, experience, preferred month and language).
- Directory listing details you choose to publish (name, business, city, state, services, languages, phone, email, website).
- Community posts and messages.
- Payment information, which is collected and processed by Stripe. We receive the payment status and the last digits of the card, not the full card number.
BatteryTech data entered by a shop: customer names and contact details, addresses, vehicles (including VIN and plate), job records, block-voltage readings, photos taken at check-in and during the job, signatures, estimates, invoices, payments, and technician expenses with their receipt photos. The shop decides what to enter; we process it on the shop's behalf.
Collected automatically: device and browser information, IP address, pages viewed and actions taken, and error reports. Analytics run only after you accept analytics cookies (see the Cookie Policy).
2. How we use information
- To provide the Services: accounts, lessons, progress, certificates and their verification, the shop dashboard, BatteryTech.
- To process payments and send receipts.
- To answer your requests and applications and to contact you about them.
- To send service messages (for example verification emails, appointment reminders and service reports). Marketing emails are sent only with your consent, and you can unsubscribe at any time.
- To keep the Services secure, prevent fraud and abuse, and enforce our Terms.
- To improve the course and the Services, including reviewing AI tutor conversations for quality and safety.
- To comply with the law.
3. Text messages (SMS)
We, or a shop using BatteryTech, send text messages only to people who have agreed to receive them. Message frequency varies. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to opt out and HELP for help. We record when consent was given and when it was withdrawn. We do not sell or share mobile numbers or SMS consent with third parties for their marketing.
4. How we share information
We do not sell your personal information. We share it only:
- With service providers that process it for us under contract, including: Supabase (database, authentication and file storage), Vercel (hosting), Stripe (payments), Resend (email), Twilio (text messages), Anthropic (AI tutor), Sentry (error monitoring) and PostHog (analytics).
- With the owner of a Shop plan, who can see the course progress, lab results, exam results and certificates of the technicians on their seats (not their notes or tutor conversations).
- Publicly, only what you choose to publish in the directory, and the name, date and status shown when someone verifies a certificate ID.
- With an independent marketing specialist, only if you ask to be introduced.
- When required by law, to protect rights and safety, or as part of a merger or acquisition.
5. How long we keep information
We keep information for as long as your account is active and as needed to provide the Services. After you close your account we delete or anonymize your data within 90 days, except what we must keep for legal, tax or accounting reasons, and certificate records needed to answer verification requests.
6. Your choices and rights
You can access and update your profile in your account. You can ask us to send you a copy of your data, correct it or delete it by writing to info@batteryrepairexperts.com. Shop owners can export or delete their BatteryTech customer data, and customers of a shop should send requests to that shop.
Depending on where you live (for example California or another U.S. state with a privacy law, or the European Economic Area), you may have additional rights, such as to know, correct, delete or port your data, to object to or restrict certain processing, and not to be discriminated against for exercising these rights. We will respond within the time the law requires. You may also complain to your local data protection authority.
7. Security
We use encryption in transit, access controls that limit each user to their own data, and monitoring. No system is perfectly secure; tell us right away if you suspect unauthorized access to your account.
8. International transfers
We are based in the United States and our providers store data in the United States. If you use the Services from outside the United States, your data will be transferred to and processed in the United States.
9. Children
The Services are not directed to anyone under 18, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from minors. If you believe a minor has given us information, contact us and we will delete it.
10. Changes
We will post any changes here and update the date above. If a change is material, we will notify you by email or in the Services before it takes effect.
